Followed the AWS documentation to the letter 5 times, cannot access the public site when live

No matter how many times I start from scratch to install Strapi on AWS, the moment the instructions say " Your Strapi project should now be available on http://your-ip-address:1337/“, its never true, comes up as the " This site can’t be reached” screen every single time (no firewall on system). Logged into AWS and instance online and running fine, just no access to it publicly
