I went through this using a different means … cloned the record and saved it as an unpublished draft copy. Note: you can not query by ID after this fact - the new record has a new ID, however, if you persist a tag like “home-page” on the record, you can switch to the unpublished when ready and remove the tag on the published or unpublish that. The draft becomes the production when ready and published.
