Less painful way of setting roles and permissions from admin

hello everyone, is there a less painful way of adding/removing roles and permissions checkbox for api routes? I find myself having to manually check what I need on dev only then to find that I need to do the same thing on production and with all these checkbox. its a nightmare to keep track of. sorry I’m a total noob trying to learn strapi platform.
