Strapi isn't just a CMS right? Is it not also a fully fledged backend web framework (like Django)?

To add to your flask bit, don’t see why you need to you can use react to talk directly to strapi instead of run a flask server as a middle man.
BTW flask is also awesome but better for APIs or micro controllers.
