I want to update my strapi 4.22.1 to version 5 beta.
The upgrade tool outputs:
Couldn't find a matching version in the NPM registry for "major"
npx @strapi/upgrade -V outputs:
0.0.0-experimental.3f7b2587c5e3d548262671895cf11d8bf8c9166e
How to upgrade?
Thanks!

There are several warnings in Discord, our documentation, and in our community call. We do not currently support, recommend, or advise upgrading from Strapi 4 to the Strapi 5 beta. We won’t provide help with that until stable
<@211722558385553408> Pretty clear but in what way does these warnings relate to the fact you published an upgrade tool (with it’s own documentation) that doesn’t seem to work at all? Tell me if I’m wrong but beta mean usable not yet not production ready.
I’m not asking for support or help, just wondering when this upgrade tool will actually work so we can experiment with the beta release on existing projects.
Again no bad feelings just trying to understand what the status with this upgrade tool !
Thanks for your response and best luck to bring strapi v5 to its stable release !
Indeed for now we don’t advise upgrading and we are still building, testing, and completing documentation on the upgrade process. Once we are ready we will announce it and ask for help testing it
For now we aren’t because we aren’t confident it in.
Ok thanks for your answer. But as rickyshowtime mentioned I think its quite misleading to have an example on the upgrade tool page which updates strapi to 5.0.0 and only advising against using it in production instead of saying its currently not possible to migrate at all.
So I stay tuned for that being possible then
Upgrade 4.22.1 to 5 beta (not possible yet)
those are the beta docs so we are writing them in preparation for the stable release and there is a huge warning on that page:
