In the data transfer / import/export data options it’s possible to exclude files, config etc… Is it possible to exclude certain tables, for instance user permissions tables? I would have thought there would have been an option for this to ensure being able to keep users specific to given environments??

Sadly that is not possible as of yet. It is just a full on db overwrite. It’ll wipe anything that’s already in the db and fill it again with the dump

I believe that was because of an issue with auto-increment id’s not working properly across multiple dbs

Though as of v5 all entries will have uuids to identify them, so technically this can be solved in v5
