Strapi app hangs when content-type-builder is opened

My strapi app hangs (http://localhost:1337/admin/plugins/content-type-builder) when I try to open the content-type-builder at: on the strapi dashboard, and the worst of all is that I get no error msgs in terminal, what might be the possible reasons for this crash?
